My diverse upbringing and understanding of cultural backgrounds drive a strong curiosity and appreciation for communication in all forms of creativity, inspiring me to see, think, and design beyond what the common eye holds.
DIVERSE UPBRINGING
I am proud to say that I am a very diverse Latina — I was raised in Caracas, Venezuela with both Mexican and Colombian blood. While in Caracas, I was blessed to start learning English at the early age of 5 and later took French for 7 years. Having the opportunity to have many international friends while going to school in Caracas opened my eyes to the rich diversity of cultures. I was always curious about the many languages, foods and customs, which later were brought into my design as a form of appreciation and inspiration.

STRONG CURIOSITY
My curiosity for design and art started at the early age of 8, when I wanted to become a video game designer for PlayStation. Throughout my youth, I constantly found myself attracted to vibrant colors and shapes. Slowly, with out noticing, my future career path was being directed to Graphic Design.
EDUCATION:
In spring of 2004, I was accepted into the selective and challenging Graphic Communications program at the University of Houston. Two years later, while holding leadership positions in two organizations, working two jobs, and after countless days of no sleep and hard work, I graduated Cum Laude with a B.F.A in Graphic Communications. In addition I worked at the “The Daily Cougar, ” the University’s newspaper as a production designer, and as a graphic designer at “CreationStation,” an in-house design shop on campus. Those three years of experience prior to graduating proved to be invaluable when I began my career as a Graphic/Web Designer at Minor Design Group in Houston, Texas.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
While at Minor Design Group I collaborated on the redesign of their own website and had the opportunity to work with clients like Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center, The Blaffer Gallery, The University of Houston School of Architecture, Center for Life Sciences Technology, SLA Studioland Architects, Muñoz-Albin Architects, and others. After two wonderful years there, I spread my wings to fly on over to The Houston Zoo.
Working as an in-house designer for the zoo was a wonderful challenge with new experiences in the world of signage. In three years I became the key role player in design, development, and establishment of visual consistency on all information kiosks; managed and revitalized over 600 animal identification signs; translated marketing information from English to Spanish; trained and managed contractors and interns, and other projects that served to enhance the visitors experience in the zoo.
A COMPANY IS BORN:
In the summer of 2011, I officially started Nicte Ixchel De Anda Graphic Design, my own company. All the experience I had gathered, has given me a strong foundation; along with a hunger for an on-going pursuit of excellence and continued education. I founded my company with the principle of creating original and conceptual work that is unique to each client. Every project starts with the strokes of a pen or pencil, and later flourishes into a design.
My passion for design has always extended beyond my work. As a member of AIGA (The Professional Association for Design) since 2004, I have volunteered for AIGA Houston chapter events, and attended various lectures. In 2008 I co-coordinated the University of Houston Graphics Alumni Partnership (UHGAP) annual Alumni Mixer event, which was a huge success.
During my free/personal time, I enjoy spending time as a Military wife with my wonderful and loving husband, and our incredibly smart pit bull-mix. The joy of my family is what brings me the most strength, encouragement and inspiration.
